Flamengo Vs Al Hilal SFC Lineups
Gabriel Barbosa hopes to lead Flamengo’s line in this crucial Club World Cup semi-final against Al Hilal. The former Manchester United striker is the man to watch.
Al Hilal is a tough team with a lot of experience in this tournament and wants to surprise everyone. Argentina legend Ramon Diaz manages them.
Santos
The Copa Libertadores champions went into their match against the Saudi Arabian club with a full-strength lineup. They included ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender David Luiz in their defence, along with Everton Ribeiro and Giorgian de Arrascaeta out wide.
The Brazilians need help finding a way into the game, and Al Hilal monopolises possession. Salem Al Dawsari puts them in front from the penalty spot after Matheuzinho fouled Vietto.
The New York Times reports that Santos has some scandals under investigation, including allegations of check fraud and falsely claiming to be Jewish. He is also accused of lying about his college and work history. He has since stepped down from his positions on the House Science and minor business committees. The non-profit Campaign Legal Center has filed an official complaint against him with the FEC.
Gustavo Varela
The former Brazil international stood out for Flamengo in the 2022 Copa Libertadores, winning the Golden Boot with 12 goals. His attacking skill will be invaluable for the club as they try to make their mark in the UAE.
Al Hilal is in fourth place in the Saudi Pro League after 15 games. They are well-coached by Ramon Diaz, the former River Plate and Oxford United manager.
Salem Al-Dawsari will lead the side, but he must watch out for Pedro, one of the top scorers in the Carioca Serie A with 14 goals. Nigerian Odion Ighalo will also be a threat. Diaz will have to use his best tactics to beat the Brazilian powerhouse. He must be smart with his substitutions to keep the squad fresh. He will probably bench defender Mohamed Kanno, who was given a yellow card early in extra time against Wydad.

David Luiz
The defender has been a critical member of the Paris Saint-Germain defence, and he’s played in every single one of their games this season. He’s a hugely talented player who can dominate in the air and on the ground.
Luiz has also represented Brazil at international level, and he’s widely considered one of the world’s best defenders. He’s a great leader for his team, and he can make a huge difference in any game he plays. The ex-Chelsea defender made 213 Premier League appearances before moving to Arsenal in 2017. He then returned to Brazil with Flamengo in 2021.
Thiago Maia
Maia is one of the more underrated players in this team, capable of playing almost any role in midfield. He’s been a pivotal contributor to two consecutive Campeonato Paulista wins and has had a solid Brazil league campaign this season.
Often compared to Chile’s Arturo Vidal, the Brazilian has an impressive range of skills and can dominate midfield battles at will. He’s also capable of delivering crosses from deep and is usually found on the left, although he has played right back for the club.
The former Inter Milan star is a top scorer in the South American league and loves the big stage. Ramon Diaz hopes to deliver a result for Al Hilal in Tangier today. Odion Ighalo and Luciano Vietto start up front for the Saudi Arabian side.
Gerson
Defending Copa Libertadores champions, Flamengo have included a full-strength side in their squad for Tuesday’s FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Al Hilal. Pedro and Gabriel Barbosa start up front for the Brazilians, with Everton Ribeiro and Giorgian de Arrascaeta out wide.
Ramon Diaz’s Al Hilal side has already sprung a few surprises in this tournament. Salem Aldawsari fired them ahead before a second penalty from Luciano Vietto saw the Saudis level against hosts Wydad Casablanca in stoppage time.
The Qatari champions have several attacking options, including former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo and top scorer Michael. Defender Mohamed Kanno is suspended after being sent off early into extra time last weekend against Wydad. Moussa Marega will replace him. Al Hilal are without injured goalkeeper Ali Albulayhi and defender Saleh al-Hamdan. Argentine Ramon Diaz has selected an attacking team.
Everton Ribeiro
After dominating in the 2022 Copa Libertadores, Flamengo were tipped to make a good showing at the Club World Cup. But they lost to Al Hilal Riyadh, who has now made it to the competition’s final.
The Brazilians started with full strength, including Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Everton Ribeiro out wide. The pair are both international-level players, which should cause problems for the Saudi side.
With a fleet of feet and a sharp mind, Everton is a threat running at defenders from the right side of the pitch. He enjoys cutting inside onto his favoured left foot to pick out a forward pass or nipping in to shoot at goal. Al Hilal can’t stop him.
Giorgan de Arrascaeta
Four years after meeting in the Club World Cup final, Flamengo and Al Hilal are set to meet again in the first semi-final of this year’s tournament. Argentinian Ramon Diaz’s side has been impressive in the Saudi league, with Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo, the top scorer.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta plays for the Uruguay national team and has represented them in 5 matches, scoring two goals and assisting 1.
He started this season with Flamengo, playing two games and scoring 1 goal. He also holds the record for most assists in a single season in the Carioca 1, with 3.
Pedro
Pedro is a talented young striker who loves the big stage. He is capable of scoring a lot of goals for Flamengo, and he can also provide assists for his teammates.
Pedro’s teammates are excited to have him on the field, and he hopes to help his club win a big match. He is eager to prove himself on the biggest stage and will do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Salem Al-Dawsari scored two penalties for Al Hilal to give the Saudi Arabian side a 2-0 lead at halftime. Gerson was shown a yellow card in the process. Al Hilal can now hold on and advance to the final. Despite their early loss, Pedro is confident in his team’s chances. He believes they can pull off a big upset against the defending champions.
Gabigol
Gabigol is one of the hottest prospects in Brazilian football. He is quick, skilful and deadly in front of goal. After a disappointing spell in Europe with Inter Milan, the young striker has found his form again at Flamengo, proving why he was worth a big-money transfer from Santos.
He has scored 43 top-flight goals since joining the club and is showing why Inter were so keen to take him on board in the first place. He can play either as a central striker or on the left wing, and he has something of Neymar’s light-footed speed and flair.
Al Hilal are led by former Manchester United boss Ramon Diaz, who has added Odion Ighalo and Michael to his squad. The Saudi Arabian side has a good chance of making it to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Arturo Vidal
The former Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has been a disappointment since returning to Italy with Inter Milan. He has struggled to find a place in the starting lineup and may offer little fantasy value in this match.
The Chilean midfielder is among the best, having won several trophies in Europe and South America. He is a great defensive player with excellent heading and slide-tackling skills. He is also good at one-vs-one duels and can make difficult passes.
He will play in the centre of the field with Thiago Maia, Everton Ribeiro, and Giorgian de Arrascaeta. His skill is awe-inspiring, and he is capable of scoring goals. He can play for any team in the world. He is a top-rated player in the world of football.
